I remember as a child seeing the wedding pictures of my parents in Hawaii during the 1940’s. I grew up witnessing their love for the lush, romantic landscapes that I saw in so many of their pictures and our house often resonated with the music of Hawaii. It would be decades though before I actually got to visit there and I quickly understood their love affair with this tropical paradise. Upon arrival, I felt a wave of calm and peace that surrounded me during my entire visit. When I returned home, I longed for a way to bring back the relaxed feeling of Hawaii and enjoy again its splendor and sounds. After working on this unique DVD for several years I am honored to share with you the result of this amazing journey.

Starting in 2003, I shot footage in Hawaii that I could use for the purpose of a one-of-a-kind relaxation video. Shooting again in 2005, I added to my library, which was great for my personal viewing but as a professional videographer I wanted to share these glorious nature scenes with others. I returned to Hawaii in 2007 and 2008 to re-shoot some of my original footage and to add some new, this time in High Definition.

I began a year of editing work and then after finding the perfect music to accompany the exquisite video footage I started creating Waterfalls. With the help of a longtime collaborator Seymour Koblin, we came up with some truly beautiful easy listening and meditative music. It then occurred to me to create a new type of DVD that would have a mix of audio tracks that would allow the listener to customize their listening experience. By adding a variety of music and nature sounds this would allow every listener endless options for personalizing the Natural Arts Media DVD experience. This was also the perfect time to bring in some of the Hawaiian music I loved so much. After listening to the elegant, mesmerizing slack key guitar music of renowned musician Jim “Kimo” West, I was hooked. Jim and I talked about working on this project together, shared our love of Hawaii and struck up a friendship. I am honored to have his professional and artistic talents added to these DVDs. The final musical gem is the lovely bamboo flute of George Abe.
